Did you just step into a futuristic, paranormal 1980s New York? Well, if you did, who you gonna call? Instead of calling, just head on down to the Ghostbusters Firehouse. Beware if you are a fan of the movies, you may be appalled to learn that the interior of the building looks nothing like it does in the movies.
The filmmakers only used this location for its exterior appearance. The interior was just some Hollywood stage. Sorry to burst that bubble.
Oh, and by the way, the firehouse is still fully functional. So you can’t go in and buy Peter Venkman souvenirs.
You can still marvel at the unchanged outer building, and when you are done, you can scoot on over to the apartment building where Ray Stantz screwed the pooch and summoned an enormous (and for some reason, very angry) version of the State Puff Marshmallow man.
The location of the apartment building is at 55 Central Park West. If you are a little wary about going there, believe me I feel you. But I’m almost positive that the gargoyles will not come to life… almost.
