The Bronx Zoo was initially opened in 1899 and has been called home to thousands of exotic and endangered animals ever since.
For their moderate prices you can spend all day examining the exotic animals from six hundred different species.
The Bronx Zoo is home to many different endangered species, one of the most interesting being the Snow Leopard. The snow leopard originates from the Himalayas and its numbers have been reduced to approximately 5,000 in the world.
Upcoming events at the Bronx Zoo include their 5k run for the wild. The run takes place on April 24 at 8:30 am. Donations will go to help the WCS field staff.
For the last 111 (eleventy-one) years, the Bronx Zoo has been a dedication to the preservation of wildlife. Housing, breeding, and protecting the world’s endangered species is only one of its functions. The Bronx Zoo’s support of the Wildlife Conservation Society has created over 100 protected areas for animals around the world.
